Illicit Drugs
The Department provides funding for a range of programs addressing the use of illicit drugs.
These include :
- The Non Government Organisation Treatment Grants Program which funds non-government drug treatment services across Australia to increase the number of treatment places and improve treatment for people with drug and alcohol problems. Organisations Currently Funded Under Round 3 of the Non-Government Organisations Treatment Grants Program.
- The Amphetamine-Type Stimulants (ATS) Program which is designed to attract more ATS users into treatment and/or increase referrals of ATS users into treatment. Organisations Currently Funded Under the Amphetamine-Type Stimulants Grants Program
- The Illicit Drug Diversion Initiative which aims to divert minor drug offenders from the criminal justice system and into the compulsory assessment, treatment and/or education.
- The Co-morbidity Initiative which supports activities to improve the treatment of people with co-existing drug and alcohol and mental health problems.
- The National Psychostimulants Initiative which focuses on addressing the problems caused by the increased availability and use of psychostimulants.
