MBS Quality Framework – Discussion Paper

In the 2009-10 Budget, the Australian Government announced that it would provide $9.3 million over two years to develop and implement a new evidence-based framework for managing the MBS into the future – the MBS Quality Framework. The Quality Framework will establish new listing, pricing and review mechanisms that ensure that prospective and already listed items are effective and safe, likely to lead to improved health outcomes for patients and represent value for money. The Australian Government will consider the future of the program in the 2011-12 Budget.
